The tradition of dressing up in these victorian style dresses is so cute here, although it seems slightly kitch, it is the best day for them and they love it.
In oaxaca the children dressed up on a sunday and danced in costumes, lovely
they make all the masks with papermache themselves.

This is the sort of thing you NEVER see in England....a young boy just hanging out at the top of the church in the bell tower, but its ok he didn't fall or die he's ok.
Este es el tipo de cosas que nunca se ve en Inglaterra .... un joven acaba de salir en la parte superior de la iglesia en la torre del campanario, pero está bien no caer o morir, le está bien.
I love how this japanese girl trend has reached Monterrey, these girls feel so special and different it was so funny to see them looking so different among the normal sunday afternoon walkers by the river.
I love their tops and they make them completely by hand...every stitch often using oddly match fabrics, I have seen christmas theme fabrics or cute jokey fabric but whatever its always bright colours.
I first visited Mexico in 2007 and since then I have been travelling between Mexico and London, I like the authenticity of downtown and travelling around Mexico, it feels relaxing and like going back in a time machine somehow, theres alot to discover and its good to see the art and culture in both continents. I started to document the sub-culture of the Cholombianos as soon as I saw them in Monterrey, they were amazingly original and had so much energy, Vice from New York arrived after they saw my photos to do their project with Stefan Ruiz. Before Mexico I lived in london and studied Fashion at The Royal College of Art so streetstyle has always been a strong influence in my design concept which lead to projects with Nicola Formachetti for Dazed and Confused magazine in London and Japan. I am currently in Mexico city and working on an exhibition and book project.
